everything i do
is a mistake.
one after another,
they pile up in my head,
never letting go,
never letting me forget.
i'm slipping up
left
and
right.
i can't forget
what i've done wrong.
they latch onto my
memory
and seep their way in.
i swear
there's no way
to absolve me of
my guilt.

last night,
you kissed my fingertips
one by one
and promised you’d never leave
again.
last night,
you kissed my forehead
as you reached out
and tentatively caressed my
aching heart.
but you wound a noose
of pretty roses
around my neck while i slept,
and when morning came, you had vanished.

i hung.

The kiss that brings the smile back to my eyes,
The kiss that makes me happy in spite of everything.
For all this and much more
You will always have a special place in my heart –
Deep inside hidden from the world,
A treasured memory.

After the kiss, the cut they withhold
To me, you're that cut -
Deeper, more painful, agonizing, unwilling to heal,
Always there - worse than ever

we truly thought we'd spend out lives together.
I remember it more clearly than the the days since it ended.
The day we met.
I somehow knew I had to have you in my life, I made sure it would happen.
I needed you.
You may not have known it yourself, for all you had suffered, been through, the damage you'd been dealt.
You had a light within you
You may not have known...For you I seemed like a bright light in the darkness, but you didn't know then just how deep the abyss inside me was.
